This project compares the understanding that members of the editorial board of the Daily Illini have of representation of Muslims and Islam in the Daily Illini with archives and students’ perceptions of the same. The questions explored are how Muslims and Islam have been represented and portrayed in the opinions and editorial pages of the Daily Illini.

Introduction to the study of Muslims in the United States and broadly the history of Islam in the Americas. Using a comparative approach, we study how the historical narrative of African American and Latino Muslims relates to newer immigrant populations, primarily Arab American and South Asian American Muslim communities.
This collection examines ways in which the U.S. university and the American college experience are affected by diversity, and difference. In particular, these student projects examine experiences of diversity on campus, including important contemporary social, cultural, and political debates on equity and access to university resources.
