Abstract
In order to be effective, sustainable development efforts must be grounded in a fundamental understanding of the local context. Two librarians with backgrounds in anthropology will address the issue of culturally-grounded sustainable development resources available online and in digital repositories. The presenters will review the literature on the importance of the cultural context in sustainable development, identify strengths of current culturally-grounded online collections, and review gaps in order to identify areas where libraries should focus further efforts to develop these types of collections.
