Abstract
This dissertation presents an evaluation of the main stabilization attempts launched in Argentina from 1978 to 1991. The Argentine experience shows that in order to cope with high inflation both, conventional antinflationary policies and specific anti-inertial measures should be undertaken.
Also, recently developed models of high-inflation were contrasted against the Argentine experience. These models serve to define the hypotheses that exist behind different policy prescriptions. The complexity of the Argentine experience, however, showed that there is a clear gap between their stylized analysis and the problems involved in designing actual policies.
