Abstract
This project investigates the live subject research at the University of Illinois in the cognitive sciences field and focuses on the role of this research in furthering the development of artificial intelligence. The authors encountered problems sifting through a great deal of information about cognitive science and the various applications and identifying the individuals at the university who work on these issues. The study does not illuminate many ethical issues relating to the live subject research on campus as a result of the strict guidelines implemented by the IRB. The main ethical issues in the artificial intelligence field are concerned with the implications of technological advances of machines with human intelligence and the fears about machines knowing too much.
