Abstract
A model of cross-cultural consumer behavior is proposed, adding to the commonly accepted attitude-consumer behavior models (e.g. Fishbein and Ajzen 1975; Ajzen and Fishbein 1980), by incorporating Triandis's (1994) Model of Subjective Culture and Social Behavior Relationships. This model is related to a specific consumer behavior (intention to purchase a camera) and assessed with data from a consumer survey via a path analysis with composite variables, finding support for the proposed relationships.
In addition, the theories of individualism and collectivism are applied to the model to derive specific cross cultural hypotheses. These were tested via a comparison of path coefficients and means between countries.
