Abstract
This project examines why students become a member of the Gamma Phi Circus and how it influences their experiences at ISU. On the basis of four interviews and participant observation, this research shows that most members had been unaware of the existence of the circus and became member only after meeting other members or after getting involved through friends. The circus forms a tight and diverse community.
The university offers an extraordinary opportunity to study and document student communities, life, and culture. This collection includes research on the activities, clubs, and durable social networks that comprise sometimes the greater portion of the university experience for students.
