Abstract
This project aims to answer the following questions: What political movements have Latino-based student organizations participated in since the 1990s? How many Latino Greek and non-Greek organizations have hosted political/educational/philanthropic events within the last five years? What contributions have these organizations made to the Latino community on and off campus? Based on eight interviews at La Casa Cultural Latina and participant observation at various events, this study shows that Latino Greek organizations are more politically active, while the Latino non-Greek community is more committed to achieve long term change.
This collection examines ways in which the U.S. university and the American college experience are affected by diversity, and difference. In particular, these student projects examine experiences of diversity on campus, including important contemporary social, cultural, and political debates on equity and access to university resources.
The university offers an extraordinary opportunity to study and document student communities, life, and culture. This collection includes research on the activities, clubs, and durable social networks that comprise sometimes the greater portion of the university experience for students.
