Abstract
I conducted this preliminary study to identify suitable study sites and develop questions for a larger project on migratory bird use of high-elevation shrubland habitats in the Bear Valley - Lake Alpine region of the Stanislaus National Forest in Alpine County, California. My goal was to assess bird use of shrub-dominated habitats with capture/release methods. I focused on willows, riparian alders, and chaparral. The meadows with willows included grazed and ungrazed sites.
