Abstract
The reaction K+p →Kopπ+ has been studied with a 3 eV/µb exposure in the ANL 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The 5700 two-prong Vo events in this film sample were measured on SMP's and processed with the Illinois programs SPACE-ILLF'IT-GNUS.
The reaction is found to be dominated by production of the quasi-two body final states K* p and KoN*. The absorptive peripheral model has been compared to the K* production data and although the spin density matrix elements show general agreement with its predictions, the differential cross section does not. The N* production data are well described by the p and A2 Regge pole model of Krammer and Maor. The dependence of momentum transfer distributions upon invariant masses is also discussed.
