Abstract
This thesaurus establishes semantic relationships among the terms and concepts of onomastic sciences, the study of naming and naming systems. The emphasis is placed on African proper names. The latter provides comprehensive and complex materials for onomastic research, especially when it comes to onomastic fields such as anthroponymy, toponymy and zoonymy. The thesaurus is intended for researchers and scholars interested in onomastic sciences in general and African onomastics in particular. It can also be used by those whose research interests include linguistics, anthropology, general history and the humanities, since onomastic terms are encountered in these fields.
