Abstract
"This resource list pertains to garden seeds that would have been popular in the 1850s. The list is divided into two sections. The first is a list of garden seeds recommended for use in Springfield, Illinois. This was found in the ""Transactions of the Illinois State Agricultural Society"" (vol. 3 - 1857) by Simeon Francis. The second section describes how the garden was recreated at Clayville using two sources: ""The Young Gardener's Assistant"" by Thomas Bridgeman and ""On Practical Gardening in Illinois"" by Simeon Francis. 6p."
