- Abstract
- The main objective of this investigation was to study experimentally the strength and behavior of prestressed plate-edge column connections with unbonded tendons representative of those used in prestressed flat plate buildings. To achieve the objective, four two-thirds scale, flat plate-edge column specimens were constructed and subjected to static loadings in which both the shear and moment transferred between the slab and the column were increased proportionately until failure occurred. The experimental variables considered in this program were the direction of the banded tendons and the moment-shear ratio. Three models for predicting the strength of prestressed concrete flat plate-edge column connections were investigated. The problems associated with predicting the tendon stress were discussed and several .models for predicting the tendon stress were presented and evaluated with respect to measured values.
