Abstract
Methods contained in the specifications of the Architectural Institute of
Japan (AIJ) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) for design of web
reinforcement were studied to evaluate the relative probabilities of flexural
and shear failures in reinforced concrete beans and columns proportioned on
the basis of the AIJ and ACI methods.
