- Abstract
- Experimental results are presented of cyclic load tests performed on small scale beams. The specimens are replicas of coupling beams used in a ten story coupled wall model structure tested on the University of Illinois Earthquake Simulator. Test variables are the reinforcement and the loading pattern. Descriptions of the fabrication process~ test setup, instrumentation and test procedures are presented. Measured moment-rotation relationships and patterns of crack development are used to describe the response and modes of failure of each specimen. The observed response is compared with that obtained from an analytical model representing deformations due to curvature, shear' and slip of the reinforcement.
