Abstract
Fatigue tests were conducted on reinforcing bars subjected to axial
loadings and reinforcing bars embedded in concrete beams. Major emphasis was
placed on determining the effect of both welding and type of bar material on
the fatigue behavior of the beam reinforcement. To this end a variety of butt
and lap-welded joint types were studied. In addition, the relative fatigue
behavior of intermediate grade and high strength reinforcing bars was
investigated.
