Abstract

This paper attempts to provide a generalized summary of the problems of analysis and interpretation of the data taken in dynamic tests, particularly with regard to the difficulties ordinarily encountered. It does not include detailed descriptions of methods. There is a discussion of the economics of the problem, so far as interpretation and analysis are affected by economic considerations. General methods of processing data by tabulation and by graphical methods are given. The problem of reading and transcribing recorded data is discussed and means of simplifying the anal~es are mentioned. There is also a brief description of the applications of computing devices and of mathematical instruments in these analyses. The effect of some limitations in equipment are mentioned.
