Abstract
Academic libraries have committed to making information accessible to individuals with disabilities. Beyond legal compliance, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are generally considered as the international digital accessibility standard. LibGuides are an important resource in academic libraries, and librarians and staff have devoted considerable time and effort to building a variety of LibGuides to meet the needs of patrons. However, limited research has been done to assess the accessibility of academic library LibGuides. An evaluation of the 75 LibGuides of Funk ACES Library following WCAG will reveal its readiness to serve functionally diverse patrons and enlighten how academic libraries should move from compliance to conformance and make academic libraries a welcoming space for all.
