This course will explore Shakespeare’s engagement with the world and its myriad, diverse cultures. We shall focus on Shakespeare’s portrayal of individuals and societies from outside of England and Europe, reading and discussing several plays to better understand how he regarded those of other races and religions, including Jews and Muslims. Satisfies humanities or literature requirement for transfer.
