Abstract
This project has endeavored to illuminate two of the lesser ubiquitous Irish Folk music instruments; the bodhran and bones. In this project, I have reviewed available text on the
pedagogy of these instruments and have created a methodology to teach these instruments’ techniques and how they are played in more traditional settings. I have conducted numerous interviews with four masters of these instruments, and though that research have developed a
concise and informative notational system, technical development exercises, performance variations, and defined rules about performance practice.
