Abstract
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign provides a Fall Welcome Week, inviting first-year, second-year, and transfer students to inspire a sense of community. As part of a large campus, there are often gaps in collaborative opportunities across library units. The presenters recognize that a collaborative Welcome Week activity would unite dispersed units through one engaged activity. Librarians will present how their joint passport stamp activity, advertised as a “Library Crawl,” supports and advocates for each unit’s environment and services by boosting awareness. The three partnering units, Main, Funk, and Grainger Libraries are located at different cornerstones of campus and the “Library Crawl” aims to re-introduce students to services and study spaces while motivating them to visit each location in person. From this exploratory phase, the librarians seek to follow up with participating students via survey. Through this poster, the presenters will provide a model to assess a collaborative in-person activity.
