Abstract
This study examines the current status of undergraduate education in Library and Information Science (LIS) schools in the U.S. based on publicly available data collected from their official websites. It found that LIS schools in the U.S. provide undergraduate education mainly in six forms. The majority of LIS schools in the U.S. offering undergraduate programs are iSchools or belong to the iSchools of their universities. The text analysis of the names and descriptions of undergraduate programs in LIS schools identified their intellectual focus on the interplay between data, information, technology, and human. The content analysis of the core curricula of undergraduate programs in LIS schools indicates their interdisciplinary and collaborative nature with an emphasis on research.
