Abstract
This thesis aims to understand a few key drivers that influence decision-making by users on crowdsourced platforms, specifically looking into two key categories. The first is initial coin offering investment rating and evaluation platforms, which are marked with high uncertainty. The second is charitable micro donation platforms, covering healthcare needs in developing nations. These two platform types mark the top concerns for users, investors as well as platform owners in recent times and through a multi-method approach, we aim to provide novel explanations on 1) if and how emotions from patients’ images affect donation decision, 2) how chances of survival of a patient influences donation success, 3) how artificial intelligence influence the assessments of human experts in evaluating ICO projects, 4) how the perceptions of AI’s ability and outcome likelihood affect the influence of AI assessments on human experts’ decisions, and 5) what are the key drivers to success and decision-making in ICO based on past research review.
