- Abstract
- The workforce development mission of XSEDE (eXtreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment) was "to provide a continuum of learning resources and services designed to address the needs and requirements of researchers, educators, developers, integrators, and students utilizing advanced digital resources."[12] As part of that mission and in partnership with Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center (PSC), XSEDE 2.0 offered monthly high-performance computing (HPC) workshops from September 2016 to August 2022 to teach practical HPC programming techniques to the research computing community. Four topics were covered on a regular monthly rotation, along with a multi-day “boot camp” held each June. This retrospective longitudinal study examines attendance, demographic, and satisfaction data from nearly 9,000 workshop attendees over the course of XSEDE 2.0. We also provide recommendations for improving representation and satisfaction for underrepresented groups.
