Abstract
This study sought to provide a behavioral basis for programming the design of a new day care center to be built by a Southern California Church community. The researchers observed environmental behavior at eight existing child care centers, where they also studied physical traces, archives, and interviewed staff members, architects, and building managers. Research from this data was then translated into design guidelines for the new facility.
