- Abstract
- Over the past decade, we have witnessed an increase in the number of people working on crowdsourcing platforms. These people often use their mobile phones for work purposes, thus putting their per- sonal information at risk. The purpose of this study is twofold. First, we demonstrate the extent to which the personal information of crowdwork- ers is vulnerable. Second, we empirically evaluate people’s attitudes to requests for sharing different types of information. The Amazon Mechan- ical Turk (AMT) crowdsourcing platform was used to recruit participants from all around the world for our experiments. The results indicate that the majority of crowdworkers are willing to share their personal infor- mation with a random employer on this platform. In addition, there are certain types of information that they tend to share more than others.
