Abstract
Metadata schemas, such as metadata vocabularies and application profiles used to describe the content and structure of Linked Open Data (LOD) datasets, often become inaccessible. One of the main reasons for this is the disappearance of the metadata schema descriptions from the websites used to publish them or even the organizations or projects that maintained them become inactive or cease to exist. This study analyzes this problem in a LOD-specific context and proposes a long-term metadata schema management method based on the OAIS reference model. OAIS reference model is a well-accepted model for the long-term preservation of information. The presented study also devices a long-term schema management platform using Blockchain oriented technologies.
