Abstract

As a core library service, study room reservation (SRR) promotes a collabo-rative learning environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, user demand and needs for SRRs have unprecedentedly grown due to social distancing and health protection. However, the usability and user experience of an SRR system has rarely been investigated. This study aims to fill in this gap by tak-ing a mixed-method approach to assess the usability of an SRR system at an academic library website, prototype a new design based on user feedback, and conduct A/B testing to compare user experiences. Findings will help the academic library system improve the SRR service, better meet users’ needs during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and provide empirical evidence to the design and development of SRR systems.
