This document shares lessons learned throughout the six years of the XSEDE 2.0 project as well as
best known practices identified by project staff. The lessons come in two forms: good practices that
are suggested for other projects, and challenges XSEDE identified to which other projects might
also be susceptible. As might be expected, the project has continuously evolved in response to
changes in community needs and requirements over the six-year period—in fact, it was designed to
do so. It is hoped that this report will be of use both to those currently managing large projects and
those proposing such projects.
