Abstract

Service Providers are an essential part of the XSEDE ecosystem, and they interact with the different facets of XSEDE in a multitude of ways. As the resources and services offered by the national CI community became more and more diverse, XSEDE had to adapt our processes for onboarding and interacting with them. A new formal process was required that was modular enough to meet varied demands. This paper describes the evolution of Service Provider interactions with XSEDE over the lifetime of the XSEDE2.0 project. We will highlight some of these technical and social processes in this paper and the methods in which they evolved. We will also discuss key takeaways from our interactions with Service Providers, challenges faced, and how such approaches might be applied to other collaborations. Finally, we conclude by exploring questions raised as a result of over half a decade of experience working with the national CI ecosystem.
