- Abstract
- When the pandemic hit, I was struggling - as we all were - to figure out how I worked best stuck at home. The first draft of my dissertation lit review was rejected by my advisor, so I started over. To help me visualize things, I put each of my references (first author, date, keywords) on a color-coded Post-It and grouped them into categories. The categories wound in a sort of circle, ending with the “hole in the field” in the center where my own work fit in. This helped me reconceptualize the chapter - and it gave me a quick reference as I was writing: just look at The Wall! If I was writing about a specific topic and needed a reference, I simply needed to glance up at The Wall and find one. While programs such as Zotero can also help with things like this, as a visual person with ADHD, this was exactly what I needed.
