- Abstract
- This photo was clicked during my Post Graduate Diploma course specialized in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Science at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS/SRO), Dehradun, India in March 2020. I am seen holding one of the different soil samples that I collected from wheat crop fields for my course final project titled “Soil Moisture estimation under the presence of crop cover using Sentinel 1 images”. There is a total of 96 soil samples that are being oven-heated to find soil moisture manually by considering the weight of soil samples before heating & after heating. This process took about 32 hours when heated at 80 degrees Celsius to give accurate soil moisture results. My ultimate goal was to interpolate these soil moisture values over an area of 51.24 km2. This project has made me feel lucky as I was the only female student who carried the field trips twice within 2 months individually. It made me feel confident and stronger. I always feel grateful for the wonderful experience that I got through this research project.
