Abstract
There is a critical gap in the understanding of autistic students’ experiences with the stressors of college. Early research has suggested that this population faces challenges related to sexual assault victimization, psychological distress, alcohol use, and academic disengagement. However, little research has explored how specific facets of autism potentially relate to these difficult experiences. Study one explores how autism traits are associated with sexual assault victimization among women enrolled at a university. Study two explores the relationships among autism traits, psychological distress, alcohol use, and academic disengagement in undergraduate college students. A general discussion describes the studies’ strengths and limitations while providing recommendations for future research.
