Abstract
Until recently, Engineering Mechanics seniors took TAM 293- 294, Research and Design Project, in which they worked individually or in teams with practicing engineers during the academic year, and prepared final written reports on their work. In 1996--97, the last year of the TAM 293- 294 requirement, there were six students in the course; three of the students' final reports were judged to be exemplary and have been reproduced in these Proceedings.
