Abstract
Fried and Gurtin developed an extension of nonlinear elasticity theory in which an order parameter joins the deformation as an additional independent kinematic variable.The purpose of this report is to extend the result of Fried and Gurtin - showing that their theory embraces the full range of interfacial structure present in the sharp-interface theory of Gurtin and Struthers.
