"The classical problem of the motion of a solid body through an inviscid, incompressible, irrotational flow is discussed in light of the recent discovery that this motion may be chaotic. The potential significance of this result in relation to the real problem of motion of a solid in a viscous fluid is also discussed. A simple example of controlling chaos by redistributing the mass within the solid body is given. It is shown that chaos can both be enhanced and eliminated through the proper placement of ""control masses"" within the body. Some open problem areas for future investigation are mentioned.
