Abstract
Dynamometer tests were run on a 33 inch railway car wheel to determine the temperatures developed under braking. These experimental results were then compared with the theoretical temperatures predicted for the same locations on the wheel. The intent of this investigation was to determine how well the theoretically predicted temperatures compared with the actual experimental temperatures.
