Abstract
This report describes equipment for applying complex loading in the form of a steady true tensile stress plus controlled cyclic shear stress in torsion. Almost all machine functions are automated. The tensile stress is controlled constant by means of a cam system and the cyclic shear stress amplitude is controlled constant by means of an electronic control system. Autographic records are obtained of axial tensile deformation and hysteresis loops of shear stress vs shear strain. Brief descriptions of mechanical and electrical components are presented.
