Abstract
Arrest of an aircraft during landing or abortive take off using a PVC cable as an energy absorber incorporates simplicity, novelty, and reliability. It is the purpose of this report to evaluate the feasability of this system in terms of aircraft arrest characteristics, amount of cable required and the influence of stress waves in the steel and PVC cables generated upon engagement by the moving aircraft.
