"This paper contains an analysis of a mathematical model of a missile which is initially at rest in free space and then fired. The model consists of three rigid bodies mounted on a common axis. The first body represents a ""chunk of fuel"", and the second and third bodies represent the rocket. The bodies are given initial spins about the common axis by an internal impulse with the first and second bodies spinning as one unit, then the first body is ejected from the common axis in the direction of the axis. By neglecting second order terms, the equations of motion are found and solved."
