Abstract
From the Introduction: The differential equations of equilibrium for thin elastic shells were derived by Love, and the integration of these equations for axially symmetric shells is due to E. Meissner. Conical shells were studied extensively by F. Dubois and have also been treated by Flugge, Timoshenko, and many others. Watts and Burrows showed that the solutions for conical shells with uniform wall thickness could be expressed in terms of Kelvin's function.
