The third and fifth lecture of the series on “Some Thermodynamic Aspects of the Flow of Solids” summarized in this report are concerned with the formulation of the strain-time function of 2-phase materials. A model for such materials is proposed on the assumption that the phases are not of comparable strength. The rheological strain-time function is then derived and it is seen that a mathematical equivalent expression can be obtained by using the theory of irreversible thermodynamics.
