- Abstract
- "This image is a combination of a traditional and a modern way of employing the trail for humans' wellbeing. One part of the photograph portrays the traditional trail created by footprints, a 'desire path.' The other represents the modern tracker, a path that we desire nowadays. We take the first step in the research to see what has already been done. Next, we understand what needs to be done and address that specific research gap. Finally, we leave the future directions. Historically we studied the importance of footprint in tracking animals and archaic humans. Twenty years before the microscope's development, John Snow—""father of field of epidemiology""— studied cholera and used a spot map of cases to investigate the cholera outbreak. From the recent outbreaks of infectious diseases like measles, we learned the importance of patients' trajectory, vaccines, and masks in prevention. Such previous scholarly contribution highlighted cues to establish initial guidelines for novel coronavirus disease - 2019 (COVID-19). In epidemiologic research, I study describing and analyzing health conditions at the community level. This COVID-19 dashboard depicted my voluntary footprints, as an inspiration grew on the trail left behind by all my fellow spatial epidemiology researchers."
