Abstract
The Cave-In-Rock Ferry serves as the mobile bridge traversing the Ohio River and connecting Cave-in-Rock, Illinois with Crittenden County, Kentucky. Both Illinois Route 1 and Kentucky Route 91 end at the ferry terminals on the northside and southside of the river respectively. The state border-crossing ferry service is free and has only one vessel running from 6:00 AM to 9:50 PM, 7 days a week. The small ferry service is the only river crossing means for the approximately 500 vehicles crossing the Ohio River every day and serves an important extension of mobility for drivers relying on the ferry service.
