Abstract
With the growth of the use of the Internet in the workplace, the opportunities for intentional and unintentional offenses have proliferated (Giumetti, McKibben, Hatfield, Schroeder, & Kowalski, 2012). The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of cyber incivility on job outcomes (e.g., turnover intention and work withdrawal). This study also examined basic psychological need satisfaction and burnout as mechanisms through which cyber incivility is thought to affect job outcomes. Data were collected from full-time workers in the United States, and hypotheses derived from a literature review were tested. The results suggested that cyber incivility was directly associated with turnover intention and work withdrawal and indirectly associated with turnover intention and work withdrawal by basic need satisfaction and burnout. The results were discussed about workplace cyber incivility, basic psychological need satisfaction, burnout, turnover intention, and work withdrawal.
