Abstract
A 50 kHz temperature insensitive RC relaxation oscillator is presented. A novel RC branch, which has a zero temperature coefficient (ZTC) point in its charging curve, is used so that the period of the oscillator is insensitive to temperature variation. With the absence of current source in the RC branch, good noise performance is also achieved. Combined with the comparator offset canceling switch matrix, good temperature stability and noise performance is achieved. Fabricated in the 65 nm CMOS technology, the prototypes achieve an average inaccuracy of 7.5 ppm/° C (-40° C to 80° C), and ±.254%/0.1 V. Noise measurement shows 3.5 ppm Allan deviation with a 1 second measurement period.
