- Abstract
- Jason Navota - Principal and Kristin Ihnchak - Senior Planner both from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP). The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is the Chicago region’s official metropolitan planning organization and is tasked with planning for prosperity and quality of life around the seven-county region. To help achieve this mission, CMAP created a comprehensive regional plan, GO TO 2040, which recommends a variety of sustainability-related strategies on topics such as local food production, energy and water conservation, improved transportation options, and facilitation of sustainable land use patterns. Jason Navota, CMAP Principal, discussed these strategies and CMAP’s overall approach to sustainability. Kristin Ihnchak, CMAP Senior Planner, discussed CMAP’s approach to working with local governments on sustainability policies and strategies through its Local Technical Assistance program, as well as the agency’s development of a sustainability plan toolkit for local governments.
