Abstract
Diane Tecic - Illinois Coastal Program Director, Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
The Illinois Coastal Management Program was established in January 2012 as part of the National Coastal Zone Management Program, which is administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The purpose of our program is to enhance coastal management in Illinois and connect, strengthen and support partnerships that benefit our coast. Since its inception, IDNR has developed the program with the approach of balancing environmental protection and restoration with economic and community needs in the Coastal area. Several projects and initiatives exemplify this approach. This seminar addressed how the program is developing and how the principles of sustainability are guiding our project priorities, partnerships and the way we work with coastal communities and stakeholders.
