This picture actually shows the average ground temperature of part of Tongass National Forest in southeast Alaska from November to March throughout two decades. I found that the pattern it shows is very similar to the veins inside our bodies. As the forests provide oxygen for the earth just like lungs for human beings, the temperature of the forest is just like the veins that nourish the lung, keep it warm and make it grow.
