Abstract

One thing that struck me about coastal pine savannas is the incredible diversity in micro-habitats spanning the panhandle of Florida. One of my favorite things about field research is becoming completely engrossed in the natural history and culture of an area, and understanding how this intersection informs conservation. The witches lair, not far from where my study species grows, is a perfect example of this intense diversity. Just meters away from a dry upland pine savanna sits a cypress swamp harboring totally different species.
