Abstract
This study represents a clipping of my thesis (Castro, 2015) and aims to discuss how the production of personal recounts through Twitter help in carrying out the stages of writing as a process. Emphasis will be given to the foreign language didactic model by Dias (2004) allied to writing as a process. Also, this research investigates the online collaboration through tweets by Brazilian students of English as a foreign language (EFL). Brazilian students provided peer-to-peer feedback through tweets to improve each other's recounts. This discussion, which I briefly present, focuses on the analysis of the textual production process and the stages of writing as a process in an EFL classroom located at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Based on the analysis undertaken, we can see that the use of the digital environments for producing personal recounts provides opportunities for social learning mediated by online interactions and recursive feedback. It also facilitates the multiple drafts and revision of texts, which resulted in better quality writing.
